Commentary

[ abstract ]
Data is an essential element of research in graduate school. So we need to recognize it and learn how to pratice it. First, we need to know Data comentary. It has the following elements : location elements, summary statements, highlight statements, etc. In location elements and summaries process, we should understand language Focus. There are many differences in the same word. So, if we understood the meaning of sentences, we know not only whether the word is indicative or informative, but also linking as clauses. In highlighting statements process, they need good judgement. We can access this process to utilize three methods:probability, distance, generalization.

[ After reading this chapter ]
There are many useful things to deal with those data in my writing. Expecially writing a thesis in graduate school is very useful.

Interesting topic-how to listening

Okay, What I really want to learn is listening. As a korean english teacher, it is impossible mission to organize listening curriculm. Frankly speaking, I don't know what should happen in a typical listening class because there is no typical listening class in my middle or highschool time.
But I know It is very important to listen. As EFL, I had a hard time in listening to others. And now I'm still feeling hard.
As you know, our TESOL MOLL have a course for Listening. Of course I take the course. I want the course to lead me to understand how to teach for listening.

plagarism thoughts

This paper by kyoko Yamada is very sensational to me. Her thoughts about plagarism are very acceptable to me. Above all, I understand plagarism. Frankly speaking, I think that plagiarism is only stealing in the text without any acknowledgement. So I have tried to avoid it. But now I understand that it will be positive in a sense under EFL environment. Of coure I don't purse plagiarism, I tell you how to avoid plagiarism.

So I'll use how to avoid it in my class. Most of my students are highscool students for SAT. So I've never thought yet about plagarism. But now I think these skills for avoiding plagiarism are very useful while they(EFL reader or writer) develop their learning ability.

In my opinion, The korean EFL environment isn't bad in hardware. But this is not true software-culture and ideological backgrounds. So we korean teacher ourselves will acknowledge this problem and try to solve it in years to come.
